Kraddle Kare Braid Hairstyles
Hey Ladies,
I see y’all out here looking all good and keeping that hair styled right. Especially the ladies rocking the braids. My new favorite braiding style are the KNOTLESS braids. I know you like’em too. They really are the “IT” hair braiding trend. Everywhere I go, I see at least 10 of my sisters rocking their braids and you’re probably rocking braids right now as you’re reading this.
Why I like braids:
1. Braids…braids are like magic. Yeah, yeah, yeah… it takes hours to get them done… so what! IT’S SOOOOOO WORTH IT! I’m usually running late in the mornings and braids save me TIME when I’m getting ready for work.
2. Braids are a low-maintenance hairstyle. You can do as much or as little styling as you want to.
3. Braids are considered a protective hairstyle (when done properly). They are definitely the go-to hairstyle when I’m tired of combing my hair or want to give my hair a little break.
4. Braids are perfect to wear during ANY time of the year. They are pretty popular to wear during the transition to natural time, summertime/vacations, and the back-to-school time… because that’s an adjustment itself.
5. Braids are FUN because you can go with your traditional hair color or add in a pop of color. Right now, I have a beautiful burgundy color at the back. (What color do you like to add to your braids?)
As much as I like rocking my braids, there are a few things you should consider
1. Select the RIGHT person to braid your hair. Remember, the goal is to get a protective hairstyle and KEEP our edges. I’m sorry, but I can’t do the heavy-handed hairstylist.
2. Make sure you take care of your natural hair prior to getting if braids. This means
• cleansing the hair and scalp
• using conditioner & a deep conditioner treatment
• detangling your hair
• and making sure your natural hair is stretched either by blow-drying or twisting.
3. Remember ALL braids have a LIFE CYCLE! It’s best not to leave your braids in for an extended amount of time especially if your hair is already thin, weakened, or damaged. My life cycle on my braids are 5-7 weeks. Because after that, my head needs a break from the extensions. The new growth after 5-7 weeks is usually noticeable and after that, the weight of the extension can start to pull at your roots. Tip: you don’t want the dangling weight of the extension to cause your hair come out. I’m just saying… you know what I’m talking about.
4. Don’t style your braids the same way every day. Switch it up some sis. For example, you don’t want to keep your hair in a top bun all the time. Keeping your hair styled the same way for the duration of your braid life puts strain on your natural hair. Remember: The goal is to keep our edges.
5. It’s okay to cleanse your hair while you’re wearing braids.
6. Apple cider Vinegar scalp rinse is wonderful.
7. Oil your scalp regularly. I usually do this every 2-3 days.
8. Break time. Although braids are considered a protective style, you can’t wear them 24/7. You gotta give yourself a break. I would recommend you take a 3-4 week break off before getting your hair braided again.
9. If your hair is too tight, tell the hairstylist and TAKE it down immediately. TRUST… I’ve taken my hair down the same day I’ve gotten it braided because I couldn’t tolerate the pain in my sleep.
10. Take care of your natural hair once you take the braids down. This is a good time to dust your ends.
⭐️ Bonus: Wear your bonnet every night. We have the PERFECT bonnet for long hair (braids, locs). I’d recommend wearing the Big Mama size Kraddle Kap satin bonnet to protect your braids every night. It’s a fashionable, double-sided bonnet without elastic. Click the links below to check it out.
